Bernhard Langer reflects on his special bond with the PNC Championship and the cherished moments playing alongside his son.
Bernhard Langer vividly remembers his first appearance at the PNC Championship. Back then, his son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and suddenly among golf’s elite. “We had a blast,” Langer recalls. “He had to compete against professional teams—hitting drives and aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even though he was three over par.” It wasn’t about the score, though. “It was just a wonderful time.” That first experience marked the beginning of a tradition that continues to this day. “I loved this tournament from the moment I was invited.”

But it’s not about trophies or prestige—it’s about sharing the game with family. “It’s one of my favorite tournaments.” Great careers meet budding swings, with Langer in the middle—as both father and player.
