Rory McIlory: Career highlights and successes

Starting with his first victory on the DP World Tour in 2009, Rory McIlroy's professional career took off. Just one year later, the Northern Irishman won the US Open and the PGA Championship for the first time the following year. After a “drought” in 2013, further success followed with the Open Championship and a second PGA Championship in 2014, leaving Rory McIlroy with just the US Masters to go for a career Grand Slam.

Away from the majors, Rory McIlroy also won the Players Championship, the flagship tournament of the PGA Tour, in 2019. In addition to his impressive performances at the season highlights on the Tour calendar, McIlroy has already secured overall victory in the PGA Tour's annual rankings twice, winning the Tour Championship and the FedExCup in 2016 and 2019 respectively.

Outstanding performance by Rory McIlroy also at the Ryder Cup

Starting in 2010, Rory McIlroy collected one Ryder Cup victory after the next. On his debut, McIlroy won the trophy with Team Europe and then went on to achieve an even greater triumph in the following edition. At the RyderCup in 2012, later called "Miracle of Medinah", McIlroy secured three important points for the European team, helping them to an iconic victory on American soil. In the years that followed, the Northern Irishman developed into an important pillar of the team and continued to collect entries in golf's biggest competition.
