Rory McIlroy capped off 2025 with a Career Grand Slam and received a unique Christmas gift from his caddie Harry Diamond.
It was a landmark year for Rory McIlroy. In April, he finally won the Masters Tournament at Augusta National, completing the elusive Career Grand Slam in golf. McIlroy had previously won the PGA Championship in 2012 and 2014, the US Open in 2011, and the Open Championship in 2014. He further celebrated with a sixth Ryder Cup victory in September 2025, although that win does not count toward the Grand Slam. On December 18, McIlroy hopes to be named BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
A special gift from Harry Diamond
To mark the occasion, McIlroy’s longtime caddie and childhood friend Harry Diamond, also from Northern Ireland, surprised the 36-year-old with an early Christmas present. Diamond gifted McIlroy a signed Augusta National scorecard featuring the autographs of all five previous Career Grand Slam winners: Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Gene Sarazen, and Ben Hogan. McIlroy now joins this elite group of players who have won all four major championships at least once.
McIlroy shared the story during an appearance on the \”Shotgun Start\” podcast, where he revealed the thoughtful gift to the hosts and audience. He mentioned that Diamond asked if he would now add his own signature to the card. McIlroy replied, \”Absolutely not!\” With a touch of humor, he added that he hopes he won’t have to add another name next year, as World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is just a US Open win away from completing his own Grand Slam: “I just hope I don’t have to get Scottie to sign it next year,” McIlroy joked.
