The course is currently closed due to thawing conditions and standing water. We wanted to explain why we have closed, and the damage that can be caused by golfers walking across all playing surfaces.
Why is the Course Closed?
Shearing of the grass plant’s roots can be caused when the top section of the surface has thawed but the lower section is still frozen. Currently, as of 1pm today, only the top 1 inch has thawed. This followed by 20mm of rain falling on frozen ground has lead to a lot of standing water around the course. The course will be inspected tomorrow morning so please look out for further course updates on V1.
