A Closer Look: Bridgend Golf Club's Challenging 8th Hole
07/11/2024
⛳️ COURSE TOUR - HOLE 8 ⛳️
Hole 8️⃣ | Par 4 | 259 yards | S.I. 7
It’s a short walk through the trees to our penultimate hole.
This is a relatively straight par 4 but don’t be fooled thinking that equals an easy hole. There is a red penalty area that intersects the fairway and follows some of the right side, in addition to a pair of bunkers that guard the small green.
You hit your longest club, the driver. A solid strike tails slightly right but fortunately comes up short of the ditch.
The fairway is tricky with subtle changes in terrain. Your ball has come to rest on a slight downslope which makes your short iron approach come out slightly lower than normal. It takes one bounce at the front of the green and rolls to the fringe at the back.
You’re left with a long approach putt, which is all about speed. You take your putter back and through but it’s a little too aggressive. 4 feet left for par.
You remember how important your routine was on the tricky return putt two holes ago. You copy it perfectly - straight into the back of the cup. Par!
One hole to go…
