Swinford Golf Club Celebrates a Memorable Captain's Day Amid Mixed Weather

Swinford Golf Club's flagship event, Captain's Day, hosted by Captain Hilary McCrohan, unfolded under a capricious sky that mixed sunshine with sudden showers, creating a dramatic backdrop for the day's events. Despite the weather's fickleness, the turnout was robust and the competition fierce.

Emerging as a standout performer, Ian Lyndon, a relative newcomer to the club, clinched the top spot in the men's competition with an impressive score of 66. Right behind him, dedicated Manchester City supporter Andy Murphy finished with a commendable 67, while club veterans Jim O'Donnell and Tony Mulligan, alongside the young Tom Horkan, all posted strong scores of 68.

In the ladies' competition, Kathleen Foy led the field with an impressive score of 71, followed by Ann Moore with a 74 and Catherine Loftus with 75.

The day was made possible through the generous sponsorship of O'Connell's Pharmacy Swinford , whose ongoing support is invaluable to the club’s community initiatives. The event also benefited greatly from the dedication of numerous volunteers who ensured everything from the course setup to the event logistics was handled flawlessly.
