Macroom Golf Club

Description

Macroom Golf Club is a magnificent parkland course set in the castle grounds on the winding banks of the River Sullane. With the Kerry Mountains forming the backdrop to the west and the grand old trees towering proudly into the sky, the peaceful beauty of this course will impress any golfer. The 18-hole, par 72 course with a standard scratch of 70 from the back tees, offers many interesting and historic features. The 2nd hole, a 115m par 3, has been carved into a hillside. The green of the relatively short hole is well protected by an oak tree and the grass bunker to the left of the green (also known as "The Banana") has slowed down many a ball before it could roll onto the putting surface. The 3rd tee is in the shadow of "The Double Rank", one of the remaining original falconries on these islands.
