Muirfield will host the British Open for the 16th time in 2013 and the Ryder Cup in 1973. It is also the home of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. Although a so-called links course, the course does not run directly along the sea but loops along a hill. This means that players have to contend with constantly changing wind directions.
