The Bridgestone Senior Players Championship is considered one of the five major tournaments on the PGA Tour Champions. However, unlike the US Senior Open, the Players Championship is not recognized as a major by the European Senior Tour. Nevertheless, the tournament enjoys a high status in the USA and, in addition to a handsome prize money, the "oldies" also play for a participation in the PGA Players Championship 2022.
